The iQ6 features two high-quality, unidirectional condenser microphones in X/Y configuration. Stereo X/Y recording is a great way to cover a wide area while capturing the sound sources in the centre with clarity and definition. You can even change the angle of the microphones from 90 degrees, if you're looking for a tightly focused sound image, to 120 degrees for an immersive wide-angle recording.

Zoom'sHandy Recorder app , available for free on the App Store, brings you a wide range of tools for the iQ6 and your iOS device. As well as displaying on-screen levels, it allows you to adjust the volume of the headphone output and offers an auto-recording function, which is great for capturing sound from meetings, speeches and other events where you don't want to miss anything.

Choose linear PCM for the highest sound quality or AAC to save storage space, then apply compression, EQ and reverb effects to your recordings. The app even lets you email files to friends and upload them to SoundCloud to share with the world.

iQ6 works not only with Apple's Dictaphone and Garageband , but also with most applications that support input from an external microphone. Use the iQ6 with speech recognition applications to give them high sound quality, streaming applications to broadcast live performances, and music applications to record vocals and instruments with full stereo range.
