I have been using it for a while now and it is very easy to use.
The device works perfectly and corresponds to my expectations, fast, silent and above all super discreet.
Complete with a WD Blue NVME SSD and 8GB of Crucial RAM. Suitable for office/internet use: fairly quiet (but not completely) and fast. Small annoying electrical hiss when dyed
Installed with Corsair SSD (https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00261833.html), crucial 4GB memory (https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00217938.html), it's perfect.
Installed Ubuntu 18 via kington traveler USB stick (https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00146528.html) in less than 3 minutes. Booting in 21 seconds. Hard to ask for more.
To be seen now in the long term.
I've been using the Intel NUC as a virtualisation lab under ESXI / Proxmox for almost a year for projects carried out as part of my work-study programme at a computer science school.
The + : Intel quality, Recent CPU i5 8th gen, Efficient fan, Low noise, Compact, Low power consumption, Recent connections, Up to 32 GB Ram, Coupled with an M2 SSD with good I/O, it's a treat.
The cons: Overall, there's nothing to stop it from being a quality product. The price is a bit expensive and doesn't particularly decrease over time. Nevertheless, for my use case it's well sized to run from 4 relatively greedy VMs to a lot of lighter VMs. If you're looking for the smallest thing you could ask for a second M2 SSD slot for a RAID1, a second network interface... but here you start to move away from the NUC concept and for my case from a lab environment; and in that case you'd have to look at other product ranges :)
Note: At the time I had to update the BIOS to be able to install ESXI 6.7, which is quite easy to do by consulting the manufacturer's website.
A very small size, a quick assembly and a reduced footprint. This small intel nuc has everything to seduce people who are looking for a desktop PC without it taking up too much space.
The performance is also good. The intel core i5 is a great performer and can be used for office and internet use. I've put in a Samsung M2 256GB and 8GB of Ram, and finally it's ultra quiet.
I recommend it without any problem.
Finally a NUC with a latest generation 4 core i5.
For professional use, reliable and fast! Performance wise, nothing to complain about. Incredibly small size.
Installed with a 240GB M2 SSD and 2x4GB of RAM, it runs perfectly. The installation is quite easy, although you shouldn't be afraid to clip the components you want to add.
4 USB ports is really limited (mouse/keyboard/printer/speakers): hub port to be planned quickly.
On the other hand, you can still hear it. Not that it makes any noise, but I would have appreciated a passive system. Let's just say that in a quiet environment, you can hear it ventilating a bit.
For the installation, provide the official drivers via usb key, because the network card does not connect despite an ethernet cable.
