The product is magnificent and the sound quality is impeccable.
It's perfect for my office.
I was looking for speakers for a recently purchased PC, and I'm not disappointed. I'd already had the opportunity to test the model with my sister, who bought it a few years ago: the sound is very satisfactory and surrounds me well. It's great for a variety of uses (music, video games, films, TV series, etc.) and at a fairly reasonable price.
There's a lot of bass, which I'd already expected (it's adjustable like the treble), but after reading reviews on various sites, it seems to be more a question of the quality of PC sound cards in general (some recommend an external DAC). It doesn't bother me at all at the moment, even though I really enjoy listening to music, so I'll probably consider this change at a much later date.
The appearance of the speakers and their 'wood' finish is very elegant. It's just a detail, but when I bought them I thought the cushions would be black, but they turned out to be dark grey, if that's any help.
Make sure you leave enough room on your desk/library, as they take up a lot of space, and make sure they're well placed (especially when it comes to accessing the sound settings and being able to turn them off comfortably without contorting your body)!
After having tested the Presonus Eris E3.5 speakers that literally burned out after a year and a half (with a spring loaded connector that even blew up), the Edifier R1280T speakers are much better in terms of sound reproduction and are much more resistant. The finish is more solid, the sound is perfect and the bass is deeper. I recommend them!
I bought this pair of speakers after my Edifier HCS2330s stopped working 10 years after purchase, which made me want to reinvest in Edifiers with a similar budget. Unfortunately the sound of these speakers are not adapted to all types of music, despite the possible adjustments on the speaker, the bass is too present.
The second thing that bothers me is the fact that it is not possible to select whether you want to listen to the auxiliary or PC input.
And lastly, the only way to turn off the speaker is with the switch on the back, which is not at all practical if you don't have easy access to it. In the end I decided not to use the speakers for my PC for these reasons, I put them on a shelf, it's still not practical to turn it off, but it's the only solution I found.
Very boomy but also considerably cavernous out of the box, which requires drawing a slight bump with the windows equalizer centered on the midrange.
The speaker's own settings alone are not enough to make up for such an important flaw, as I had better results at low/moderate volume on my Logitech X-140s of only 2x2.5 W RMS.
Once done, the rendering is VERY correct for any type of music. The bass makes the desk vibrate without drooling, the rest of the spectrum is clear and airy, for a power well beyond what is necessary for desktop use.
