High performance antenna to improve the range when far from a mobile phone base station, and to obtain a better speed, easy to install.
I was expecting a performance gain in my 4G connection (3 bars with my huawei e5377 and 8Mb down / 10Mb up without an antenna), this is not the case, see a weaker signal with an antenna connected...
I have tried to orientate it in all directions but nothing works, I understand that Netgear has removed it from its catalogue.
The antenna works perfectly, but the cables are a bit short to be able to find the best position for the antenna without having to move the modem and its electrical source (in the case of a Netgear LB1110 type modem).
The fixing with the suction cups works correctly, but it is not possible to turn the antenna as you wish because the suction cups only go in one direction.
Good buy in any case.
I receive 4G via a Huawei E5577S box, 3 bars at 2.50m height and not very stable. With the antenna I gain in stability and it is the antenna that is at 2.50 not my Huawei box! still 3 bars but again increased stability. I recommend this product.
without antenna in reception no more than 1 meg with 14 meg really effective NPERF test now stable connection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Living in a small village in Auvergne where all the telephone lines are connected to a non-fibre NRA, ADSL is 2 Mbps maximum. Except that in reality it happens that we don't even have 512kbps and especially a latency of more than 2000ms making the use of Internet impossible in 2016 (have fun using VoIP or playing online with more than 500ms of ping).
So I had the choice between expensive satellite with still a minimum latency of 500ms and very variable speeds and access through cellular networks. So I bought a Huawei E5786 and several packages from Bouygues Telecom for a total of 100GB of volume for the same price as 100GB of volume from the satellite operators.
The reception is already excellent with this 4G+ hotspot (3/5 bars in 3G while my phone doesn't even get it) but this antenna improves it even more, I go to 4 or 5 bars. The ping goes from 80-120ms without this antenna to 40-70 and the speeds are significantly better.
I have also used it in the car, both attached to my laptop screen and then to the window with the two sets of fixings and suction cups provided. Reception is also better (I can keep 4G access up to several km further out of town than without the antenna) and access is more stable.
The antenna is light and thin, the cable could have been a bit longer (I read 1m when it's 50cm) and the connectors will need tightening quickly (especially if you unplug/plug it often), but performance wise I'm quite happy.
NB: consider looking at a site listing the locations of base stations around the areas you want to use this antenna and spend the time to orientate it correctly, especially if you are far from the antenna, a few degrees of misorientation and you can lose several Mbps in speed.
I am in the countryside, my fixed line is unusable and not eligible for ADSL, so I took a 3g offer as my main connection. This antenna replaced one bought on ebay of poor quality.
It allows me a more or less stable connection regardless of the weather: without the antenna I barely have 3g when it's sunny, with the antenna I have 5/5 in 3g, and a decent ping and speed, and I can play CS:GO whether it's raining, windy, or snowing.
