I'm very satisfied with my Fairphone 6. The product meets my expectations: photo quality, ease of use, size, colour, performance... and above all the "fair" and repairable aspect. I'd definitely recommend it!
I've also bought the green case that goes with it and it's a great fit.
When I ordered my Fairphone from a shop in Lyon, the sales assistant never told me that I could choose between the normal Android system and the other.
Now that I knew both, I would have taken the one with the streamlined Google applications.
He didn't even offer me a fairphone case.
In French, it proved impossible to accept the confidentiality policy, as the tick box was "hidden" by the SUIVANT validation key. It is regrettable that this was not corrected, as the designers could not ignore it. It's an unpleasant surprise when you've almost finished configuring it and you have to start again in English with small characters to get through it... (the trick is circulating on the net but not on the Fairphone site).
Once in use, you quickly notice that the battery is running low. In normal, everyday use (phone calls, text messages, messaging, internet, etc.), this Snapdragon-powered phone performs well, but its power consumption suffers. For acceptable battery life, if you don't want to recharge your phone every day, you'll need to use the night display and Fairphone Moments mode. The company claims to be eco-responsible, so it's a shame this phone needs so much energy.
I appreciate Fairphone's ethical approach to manufacturing, repairability and long-term support for Android. I wanted to replace Android with official E/OS with a locked bootlocker (the FP6 version with E/OS pre-installed costs 50€ more). The installation worked, but France Identité wasn't working. I thought I'd done something wrong and went back to Android to reinstall E/OS. Except that the 2nd time, I couldn't lock the bootloader ("corrupt OS"). No error this time. I did this about 5 times, and the 6th time, I must have made a mistake somewhere, and the phone was bricked (out of warranty). I contacted Fairphone. I sent the phone to the after-sales service, and in the end, it went under warranty even though it wasn't supposed to. Maybe the phone really was faulty, or maybe they had a commercial gesture. In the meantime, E/OS had been updated and France Identité was working again. Finally satisfied.
At last, a phone that's built to last and designed to be as environmentally and ethically friendly as possible.
If you're fed up of constantly changing your phone for a new one that's worth 10 times its production price and has just had the photo module moved from left to right, this smartphone is for you. It's got everything you could want from a latest-generation device designed with the current environmental situation in mind!
It's also great to be able to use the accessories provided by the Fairphone brand, which meet the same quality standards!
What's more, it's very easy to transfer between other phones, even Apple ones!
I'm delighted to have taken the plunge!
It's a good phone from a performance and photo point of view.
Taking standard photos is no problem, but as soon as you want to take beautiful, slightly original photos, this is not the phone for you.
From a performance point of view, there's no problem with simple, everyday tasks.
But for more advanced tasks, the processor is limited.
Everything works fine but sometimes it struggles.
For me, it's still a good phone that does what it needs to do, but nothing more.
