Effective
A bit noisy if you use 100% of the processor, but does its job very well. If you have a soundproof case, you can hardly hear it.

As a loyal customer of the brand, at a time when everyone swears by AIOs, I didn't want to bother with pump or water issues. I keep my PCs for 7-8 years, and I wanted a robust, maintenance-free and silent solution to cool an Intel 265K.
This is the third Dark Rock I've installed. My previous BeQuiet cooler is still running after 8 years of loyal service, but it's a bit limited for the 265K, so I went for the next model up this time. It's still as simple as ever, with no problems with the RAM, even though I have relatively tall modules (not low profile) and it fits without having to raise the fan.
I don't remember the temperatures off the top of my head, but I ran some benchmarks (Cinebench) and got a normal score and temperature for this processor, indicating that it wasn't throttling due to poor cooling.
It came with a long magnetic screwdriver, which I used to assemble the rest of the PC.
I use it on a Core Ultra 265K. It's true that you can't hear it, it idles very slowly. When I run compilations, the fan slowly increases in power but the air that comes out remains cold. I should even be able to slow down the fan during these occasional phases (unfortunately, the MSI Z890 motherboard doesn't give me access to the PWM settings).
The only downside (hence the missing star) is that the metal spacers to be screwed onto the motherboard tracks, so I had to add cardboard washers to protect them. I don't know if it's the motherboard that doesn't respect the spec or the fan mounting, but be careful before you screw! What's more, the assembly instructions are rudimentary and approximate, to say the least, so when you see this you have your doubts.
Ah, surprise, there's a long Phillips screwdriver under the foam at the bottom of the box, which you discover once you've assembled everything and are about to take the remains to the bin :-)
I've always used Noctua and this time for my new Intel Core Ultra 7 PC, I decided on Be Quiet after seeing several videos, result: Excellent, very easy assembly, no problem with my Gskill strips, no problem with the MVME SSD cooler next to it (Asus Rog Strix Z890 E Gaming Wifi motherboard in a Be Quiet Pure Base 501 DX case.
In operation: no noise from the ventirad or the case despite 4 fans inside. I haven't tried overclocking yet.
The ventirad is perfectly packaged, over-wrapped by LDLC, no problem with Chronopost delivery, deadline met.
A very good fan that cools my processor properly.
I rarely exceed 50° in silence with my R7 7700, with a TDP of 65W in real life and 95W in game.
In terms of silence, it's decent. The case fans make more noise.
Installed for a Ryzen 7 9700X in a NZXT H5 Flow RGB case. It's big but very easy to install. Efficient and silent operation once properly adjusted.
Mounted on AM5 platform, easy assembly and quality product. Quiet fan, even at full speed.
Imposing, can hide your ram memory slots, but super efficient. This is the best ventirad from be quiet.
Very good ventirad that does the job, very easy to install unlike the Dark rock pro 4 model that I had installed on another config. where I had nothing but trouble installing it.
just 2 downsides: - the screwdriver was missing from the box
- and the price is a bit exaggerated
Simple to install. Highly efficient cooling in near silence. Excellent cooling system.
I am very happy with LDLC services. You have very qualified and courteous technicians.
Sincerely
Bought to replace a 240mm watercooler that was having trouble cooling my Ryzen 7 5800X.
On IDLE it's around 35 degrees, and at full load it rarely goes above 75 degrees.
A bit expensive, but well worth it.
This is the most efficient cooling system without the need for water cooling, despite the power of the processor, which remains at low temperatures thanks to this system.
My current setup is not necessarily representative, an i7 6700k with a HR-02 Macho fitted with a Noctua NF-14 Indu 2000rpm.
I wanted to homogenise my configuration in black and I'm really not disappointed, it's a magnificent ventirad that's very monolithic here: I decided not to install the second fan.
Performance is almost identical to what I had before, but I've gained a lot in terms of silence (by leaving it in Q mode). Note that these i7s are not necessarily representative in terms of heat dissipation (remember the 'dacapsulation').
In short, if you don't want to switch to watercooling, this ventirad is perfect, although its price is still a little too high compared to the competition. Perhaps it should be reserved for those looking for looks above all else.
I'd say it's one of the best ventirads for PCs if you don't want to go for watercooling. I had no problems using it after 1 year, before switching to watercooling.
LDLC recommended this very nice cooler to me to cool my ryzen9, and it does the job!
It can be very quiet and very powerful at the same time, its design is very sleek, it's perfect for me.
I'd definitely recommend it.
The Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 5 ventirad is really ultra-quiet and high-performance, and I can't recommend it highly enough.
An impressive ventirad that combines performance and sobriety. It does an excellent job of cooling even extremely powerful processors such as the Ryzen 9 9950X, while operating in high ambient temperatures typical of the 30-32 degree West Indies. Thanks to its dual-fan cooling system and optimised heatpipes, it is able to keep CPU temperatures around 93-95°C at maximum load during bench tests, while remaining below the 95°C safety limit.
In light everyday use, such as web browsing or undemanding tasks, it keeps the processor at a very reasonable temperature of 49°C. During more intensive tasks such as gaming or video editing, the temperature hovers around 69-73°C, which is perfectly acceptable for such a powerful CPU.
However, a key point to consider is its imposing size (168 mm high). Although this provides a large heat dissipation surface and improves performance, it can be an obstacle in smaller cases or with little space for components. So it's crucial to check the dimensions of your case before installation. If your case can handle it, you'll benefit from quality cooling that keeps temperatures under control, even in extreme conditions.
The Dark Rock Pro 5 offers an effective and reliable cooling solution for its price, but it's important to bear in mind that it requires a case with enough space to install it. If space isn't an issue, it's an excellent option for maintaining optimal temperatures in maximum load situations, especially for power-hungry processors like the Ryzen 9 9950x.
The price is very high for the performance it delivers, so I'd recommend watercooling instead.
250w tdp, not mine in any case.
It looks great but I don't think the performance is up to scratch. You can always try and send it back if you're disappointed. Personally, I've kept it for a PC that doesn't heat up very much.
My processor doesn't heat up at all!
It's bulky, but that doesn't matter, given its efficiency.
Very large ventirad, not to say immense. Solid, high-quality construction. Very easy to mount on an Intel, thanks to the backplate and large screwdriver supplied. A syringe of thermal paste is also supplied, but there's no little squeegee to spread it, which is the only negative point. Two very quiet fans and very good cooling. I have another, smaller one of the same brand, which has been running trouble-free for over 7 years. I hope this one will last just as long.
I use it on a ryzen 3900x for professional work that requires a lot of resources.
It's like night and day compared to the waith prism from amd, which let the processor rise to more than 85°, making a lot of noise. With this dark rock, I don't go above 65 in silence. (plus the be quiet silence box).
This Ventirad was insufficient to cool an i7 14700k processor. A pity, because on paper it was sufficient.
Go ahead with your eyes shut to cool down a silent and efficient i5 14600KF.
The durable choice for your 2024 gaming configuration
Very good CPU cooling. Silent mode provides adequate cooling for simple tasks in silence, while performance mode provides good cooling without being noisy either.
Switching between modes is very easy.
The ventirad is very easy to install, the big plus being the screwdriver supplied, which gives easy access to the screws. Once fitted, it does the job very well and the Proc stays at the right temperature despite being subjected to a lot of stress (4K video editing).
Attractive and practical, with mechanical fastenings for the fans, the top cover improves performance and reduces noise and dust. Performance is satisfactory without placing excessive demands on ventilation.
I opted for this ventirad on an i5 14600K processor and I don't regret my choice.
The processor is very well cooled (between 30 and 60°C) and there's virtually no noise pollution.
Depending on your motherboard, remember to check that this ventirad leaves room for your RAM bars.
Quiet, sober and easy to install. But don't forget to check the dimensions and use low-profile RAM.
Ordered and received in 3 days at the beginning of the year.
Very impressive at first glance, it replaces my old AMD Wraith Prism ventirad, which used to light up the room and make a lot of noise every time I started a game!
Assembly is well explained, and I didn't use the paste supplied with it but the one I had (the Zalman ZM-STC9 recommended by the LDLC seller).
I'm cooling a Ryzen 5 5600X. I left the performance mode on and I can't hear the ventirad at all. My processor does not exceed 60° at full load (up 20° on the old ventirad).
In short, it's not the cheapest but it's definitely worth it!
Good ventirad, but not very effective quality control, which cost it 2 stars: one of the two AM5 brackets was not threaded, making it impossible to attach the ventirad to it. Problem solved in shop.
Imposing, you have to check BEFORE you buy if it fits in the case!
Fortunately for me, the 168 cm fits right into a Corsair Obsidian 450D rated for ... 165 cm max.
Otherwise, it cools a Ryzen 7 7800X3D correctly, and noise pollution remains contained, but it's not inaudible either.
It took just a few minutes to install, with no particular problems.
Very satisfied.
Mounted on gigabyte z690 ud ddr4 motherboard in an asus tuf gaming gt 502 case, it is imposing, it is 1 millimetre from the glass. Very little noise in performance mode. Check the dimensions carefully.
Functional cooler. Quiet but also very imposing. The only downside is that it's really not easy to fit on the motherboard, the two screws are really hard to get in, it took me 30 minutes.
Mounted on a PC designed for image processing with Photoshop, Lightroom and NX Studio, it's extremely quiet, as its name suggests!
Used to replace my Dark Rock 4 (also a very good product) and free up 1 RAM slot on my motherboard (MSI Z390 PRO-A) for an upgrade.
Adapts well to socket LGA 1151, quick, easy assembly (pre-mounted screws) and robust (don't forget to remove the plastic label from the pad, it won't conduct heat as well otherwise...).
Thanks to this ventirad, my i9-9900KF holds 32°C at rest (PWM at 30%), 65-70°C in play (overclocked to 4.8 GHz, PWM 70%), combined with an RTX 4060 Ti in a Silent Base 600 case, temperatures are below 70°C in the case, and all without any noise. As usual, Be Quiet! is always at the top of its game, and I have no regrets about staying with them!
As I'm not a big fan of water-based systems for various reasons, including pump reliability and the risk of freezing in the ducts (this PC is used at high temperatures), I opted for this newborn Be Quiet.
At rest, the 13600k it overlaps does not exceed 30°C in a tower with 3 fans (2 front and one 14 rear).
Under full load, I've never exceeded 75°C so far.
The only noise I hear is my 2 mechanical storage HDDs when they're active. Otherwise, the ventilation system is perfectly silent, even when the CPU is firing on all cylinders.
In short, I needed an efficient cooling system that would work at both high and low ambient temperatures, and I've got it!
I decided to replace my corsair watercooling with a bequiet ventirad and frankly the performance is much better than my old watercooling.
