some keys on the keyboard are starting to fade (ctrl and left shift) ... after 18 months ... disappointing
2 keys don't work anymore : echap and left shift .... after 18 months ... pathetic for a laptop at this price
It's a pity because I'm a loyal customer of the brand and very happy with everything else
The Prestige 15 has a very nice, modern and sober look, whereas MSI has a lot of gamer looking models that are less suitable for a student. This model is very nice and powerful.
Strengths: The PC is extremely light and portable, the finish is superb. The processor is powerful. I would only recommend it if you only use it for light work (light years ahead of a Macbook for example, at the same price).
Weaknesses: This PC is NOT A GAMER PC, overheats to 95° at the slightest effort (you can cook an egg on the PC), the graphics card is insufficient for certain uses - advanced video processing. The battery is shamefully poor, lasting only 2 hours at most for very modest office/web use. The sound card of this PC is simply ridiculous, an absolutely HORRIBLE sound, especially for a PC that claims to be "for creators", obligation to use headphones or headphones (do not imagine enjoying a good movie with this PC). The charger is short and is not folded at the PC input, so it can be damaged quickly if you force it to fold. And the fact that there is no Windows by default is frankly a real pain, you have to install Windows and then all the drivers, especially for the graphics card...
Conclusion: rather expensive for the configuration of the PC but difficult to find much better for this featherweight and this high-end finish. On the other hand, if you are looking for power, you are not in the right place.
For its design and power the price is fair, good battery that can last about 10 hours in 720p and 1080p video playback without heating up and leaving the fans off, even more than 15 hours if you optimize it well.
The 1650 max-q is sufficient for relatively greedy software/games and heats up quickly.
Scheduling the use of the shared and dedicated graphics card can help save battery power on some applications.
The sound of the hp's is very good without being too high pitched.
The quality of the screen is superb with good settings for personal use.
The pluses:
Good battery (with or without optimization)

Bought this laptop as a replacement for a tower, it is incredibly powerful! Coupled with 32GB of RAM, virtualization doesn't scare it, and neither does gaming with an eGPU on the side!
The + :
Metal finish (except for the bottom of the laptop)
Nice keyboard and a large PAD
The 2 RAM slots
The cons :
Heats up quickly when charging (buying a cooler will correct this)
The charger provided by MSI is a bit short

An excellent product overall: the chassis seems solid and reliable, the screen is well made, the keyboard is pleasant to type on, the touchpad very precise, and the processor particularly fast.
The only downside is the cavernous, screeching sound that this laptop delivers. Frankly, it's almost unbearable. Fortunately, the jack delivers a much better signal, allowing you to listen through your headphones. But don't expect to listen to music, or follow a series using the sound delivered by the speakers!
This PC has a very clean design. It looks very nice. The keyboard is nice. I use it for music compo. The processor and ram are very strong and it's nice to find a light and powerful laptop at the same time with a price more than affordable than a MacBook or laptop.

Modern and powerful laptop.
Overall, the screen has good features, the power design and the thermal design have been well thought out by the manufacturer. It is built in a compact and light 15" format.
The cooling is quiet in office use.
The USB-C ports are fully wired! (so with usb3.1 + 4line PCIE 3.0 + DisplayPort)
Test with a USB-C laptop in displayPort mode.
The low power CPU (15-25W) is particularly adaptive, it consumes little in office, it is powerful in greedy application (performance close to the 45W versions!)
The dedicated GPU is powerful and can consume a lot of energy (35W) but beware it does not address games requiring high graphic performance.
Sold in FreeOS version, interesting for me because I already have a Windows 10 pro license from an old configuration. The 8GB of memory is a bit tight, I plan to quickly add a 2nd memory which will also have the advantage of doubling the bandwidth.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to add a second memory, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to add a third memory. I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but I'm sure it will be.
