The Hall effect joysticks and triggers eliminate the risk of drift and offer microscopic precision, while the haptic feedback vibration motor fully immerses the player. With an 80 Wh battery, it provides up to 5 hours of gaming in Endurance mode. The MSI Center M software, including Xbox mode, simplifies game and settings management, while the two Thunderbolt 4 ports turn the console into a versatile mini-PC for productivity or content creation.

The powerful MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ console

The MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ is pure raw power in a console. With its Intel Arc G3 Extreme processor backed by 32 Go of ultra-fast RAM, it handles small indie games as smoothly as butter and even the biggest AAA titles at full tilt without breaking a sweat. Its 8-inch 120 Hz VRR display delivers a monumental visual experience, all powered by an 80 Wh battery that finally lets you play seriously without being glued to a wall outlet. It’s simply the ultimate PC handheld console.

Mixed review

I’d say it’s too expensive for what it currently offers, and the interface is a little too technical. As I own an Asus ROG ALLY X, I find that Asus’s interface is much more intuitive and designed with players’ comfort in mind, whereas with MSI you practically need a tutorial or have to carry out extensive research to perform simple updates or fix a software issue. One important point confirmed by Asus (very responsive customer service): changing the hard drive in your ROG device does not void the Asus warranty, unlike with MSI (very unresponsive, or even nonexistent, customer service), which is very quick to disclaim all responsibility.

On the other hand, in terms of power and smoothness during gaming, the claw does the job very well and is worth it. MSI mainly needs to work more on the interface for players’ comfort and offer versions with a larger hard drive. I’m being very generous with my rating; the product as it stands deserves a maximum of 2 stars. There is still a lot of work to do on the software side.
