Perfect for my 90-year-old mother, a telephone in every room, no need to run, caller ID, directory and messaging.
Bought to replace cordless phones from a long time ago, or even a very long time ago, they do the job...
- Large screen: very practical when you're presbyopic and your glasses are a long way off.
- Good audio quality whether you're using the handset or the speakerphone.
The screen does not switch off automatically in normal mode. This is very annoying at night. It's a shame.
I've always had gigasets, the good thing about them is that you can add other gigaset solo phones internally, which is useful when you have a large house.
So far, the phones are working properly.
The only problem, which is a bit annoying for me, is that the screen lighting on each handset is constantly on and despite digging around in the settings I haven't found a way to deactivate it so that the screen isn't permanently over-lit. I don't think this will be good for battery life.
I bought this model because I already had almost the same one, but the handsets gradually broke down after several years of use. On these old handsets I could set the backlight so that when they were not in use, the screen went into standby mode.
It's a shame because otherwise everything's OK.
Purchased to replace a Gigaset C620 whose screen was no longer working.
Easy to install, simple to copy contacts after pairing with the C620.

Problem: the 52 C620 contact records are transformed into 79 AS690 records. Each number found creates its own record.

Display of names in alphabetical order (surname) only. Every family is in a queue, with first names planed to Marie A, Marie L, Jean? or less etc. The work-office-mobile distinction is made by adding a 1 or a 2, making it impossible to distinguish between private and work unless you create another file and give a nickname... risky.
No automatic screen saver. Installed in a corridor, it's like a small torch, even with the contrast reduced.
This morning, I reinstalled the two working C620s, and added the AS690 in the least busy place.
Disappointed to find them retrograde.
The lugs on one power base were cast at an angle, impossible to insert a handset. Send it back? the transport costs are half its value. Fortunately, the bases have been standard for 10 years. The old one is being reused.
Gigaset-Siemens is now focusing on the mid-low end of the market. Chinese toy plastic.

The Gigaset AS690 pack is compatible with the Orange Livebox Fibre manufactured by Sagemcom and is perfect.
Thanks to the manual (www.gigaset.com/manuals), easy to install, configure and use.
All the functions you would expect from a cordless phone are available, including the alarm clock.
The only drawback is that the phonebook entries have to be synchronised manually from one handset to another.

Phone bought as a gift. I personally have had an equivalent model of the same brand for several years and I am very happy with it. Very very good hardware. Perfect features (for example, no need for an alarm clock, the phone does the job)... Quality phones, reliable. The person who received it is very happy with these devices.

The only thing I can say is that they are excellent, they have been the same for 15 years and yet they are still up to date in terms of functionality.the only thing I can say is that the design is getting old (but not as ugly as it should be) on the phones, but on the other hand, what's with this DECT base, it's horrible! The only thing is that the design of the phones is old (but not so bad), but what's with the DECT base, it's horrible (the small bases of the other combos are very good though).
The only problem is that there is no synchronization of contacts between the combos and the screen, which remains clear when it is on its base.
Works very well, very simple installation. Allows you to filter (bar) calls from 30 phone numbers.
Basic use, wired to the box, works without problems. No problem with sound reception (sound a bit too high).
