The product is a Windows product: you have to have it, but the various software that comes with it is not and it takes time to clean it up efficiently.

I'm not sure why, but I'm sure it would be easier to get the key version (a bit more expensive, by the way) or even better to download the install on a USB key (8 GB, no need for more) from your home or an acquaintance and only buy a licence.

The products are as I expected, Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64bits in a cardboard sleeve with and above all its license number. The DVD ?? supplied was not useful this time because I installed via a USB key that I prepared using the Microsoft site from my PC and proceeded with the installation on 2 other workstations (i.e. 2 licence numbers) that do not have a DVD drive, having configured a USB boot priority in their respective BIOS. I have a FTTH connection which allowed me to install reliably and quickly. I then entered the license numbers of my purchases and it was all good. This method allows an updated installation ????

After formatting my Asus ROG G750JH with Windows 8.1, I installed Windows 10. Happy initiative! Because this new opus works strangely better than the original one installed by Asus. It's as if the manufacturers' instalments had peculiarities that made them more unstable over time. In short, happy with the change and happy to have bought from LDLC, as always...
Forced installation to work on some apps and IS locked to this system
- interminable installation time and first updates, even on a racing machine equipped with an SSD
- too many utilities, software or services installed unnecessarily by default
- impossible to be comfortable at first without a Microsoft account, any action requires one
- license number label barely readable without a microscope (does a label and a little ink cost that much?)

Many sites sell keys online, sold in bulk, from abroad. Although valid and working, there is always a doubt about the legality and you can never be sure that the license will expire overnight.

I notice on the other hand :
- Microsoft's price inflation since Windows 7 (99€) - Windows 8 (119€ and Windows 10 (139€). The danger is the brake of an assembler purchase on behalf of a big brand (for a current PC - small budget)...
- The same goes for OEM packaging, which is getting smaller and smaller every year. Here it's just a sleeve whose format doesn't fit in a classic DVD case = risk of loss. Very stingy on this point.

Easy to get started, easy to activate and easy to set up: it's Windows 10.
After that it was obvious to me to choose this system: for a gamer PC, it's the most recent.
And with Cortana, it's not bad either: you can go much faster (on certain tasks when you're lazy).

If you are upgrading to a machine with an 8th or 9th generation Intel, you have no choice but to install Win10. And given all the negative comments about this latest version, I was really reluctant to do so, but then again, no choice with a Z370 or Z390.
And finally it's not as bad as that, you just have to take the time to disable the services that track you, spy on you, and send a whole bunch of information over which you have no control, and of course, Cortana too. As well as all the extra components that are completely useless, including Edge.
I've obviously disabled automatic updates, killed the wuaserv process (renamed the exe and reboot.exe too). windows MIAs have caused me more problems (including BSODs) than solved anything. My other station runs on win7 which I haven't upgraded once in 5 years and it runs like clockwork.
Once you've cleaned it up, you're left with a relatively intuitive interface, the main difference being in the "Start" menu. For those used to win7, there will be a little getting used to, but you'll soon get used to it.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have a powerful machine (contrary to Microsoft's claims that you can run Win10 with a 1Ghz CPU and 2GB of RAM). I installed it with an i8700optane and 16GB DDRA at 3200Mhz, so it's obviously smooth, even when you run a *.* search in a directory containing 5000+ files, for example.
Only buy this if your hardware requires it, because window 7 was really good.

Installed on a Samsung HD, no problems encountered and the update afterwards was done in very good conditions.
After that it's a matter of managing the installation as Microsoft tends to have a very commercial approach to the product.
It was time that Microsoft modernised its o.s. I find this operating system practical, easy to use for a non-experienced user, the little plus the interface is clear and pleasant, only small regret I expected a box in DVD format, for the blow I had a cardboard sleeve with 2 / 3 stickers on it, LDLC please specify in the product sheet.

My heart goes out to Ubuntu and my habits to Windows so I run dual boot. You have to be very selective in your choice of options as Microsoft is very intrusive. I was an afficionado of seven but you have to move with the times.
It's quite nice to use but be careful with the settings so you don't give all your privacy to Microsoft.
The menus and options of seven are still accessible but you have to write them in Cortana (search).

I'm used to the Apple environment at home and Windows 7 at work, so I'm pleasantly surprised in general. However, the configuration to avoid sharing all your life with Microsoft requires a bit of time, as well as the settings to avoid spending time writing useless stuff on the SSD (it shouldn't be so complicated to recognize an SSD and adapt the operation)...

In use, Windows 10 has no reason to be ashamed of its predecessors, including Windows 8. In use, this system works not so bad in spite of simplistic and questionable graphic choices, still mixed with the old interface of the control panel and the management of the computer which reminds us of the old times. In the end, there are not many crashes compared to before, but there is still a lot of room for improvement for these Microsoft merchants.
Bought for a gaming/development machine, it's pretty much the base you need to have. However, it is impossible to put it in multi-boot (or not found how to do it properly). I'm not sure how to use it, but it's a good idea to buy a new one. The only thing left to do is to buy another HD to install Linux on it.
install without any problem, i won't say more about it on the technical or marketing side except for the price which is prohibitive, as it is compulsory and quite unavoidable, i bought it. if my M2 cracks up, i know i won't be able to reinstall it easily on the license side. we'll see.

Windows 10 is fast, and well designed for basic use (desktop, navigation, office automation).
Sometimes it's a bit hard to find the customizations you're looking for, but you don't have much choice anyway!

This version is equivalent to Windows 7 which I still have on other PCs but faster. All my software works perfectly and the boot gain is so fast that I don't have time to have a coffee.

Easy installation, easy activation. You have to switch to Windows 10 to be able to use the latest Intel processors 100% or use Intel Optane. Otherwise Windows 10 is a very good operating system.
The bone is impeccable if something bothers you or is too heavy you just have to disable options to be sure I advise you to visit the forums or sites dedicated to hardware and if one day you get hacked know when being at Microsoft or Mac of course have the new is better because the old version are abandoned over time you have a strong chance in retreated because it patches all that very quickly for the players also in the future the majority of games will support the direct x12
Impossible to have control over Windows updates. Everything is done automatically, so you don't know what is installed or not. The presentation is nice but there too some functions are no longer accessible like on the old Windows. In short, I don't like it.
At first I wasn't sure if I should get Windows 10, but in the end I did and I'm not on it.
It's super easy to use, lots of new features, etc...

Apart from that W10 is a good software but we know that it is microsoft who made it because it wants to sell us office, installs Skipe etc..
