Overview
Greater reliability with a magnetically coupled connector
The 85-watt MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetically coupled DC connector. If someone trips over the cord, the connector simply detaches and your MacBook Pro stays safely in place. It also extends the life of the cables. What's more, this magnetic connector makes it easy to insert the plug into the system for a quick and stable connection.
Once the connection has been made, an LED at the top of the DC connector lights up. The amber light indicates that the laptop is charging and the green light indicates that the battery is charged. A power cord is supplied with the adapter for use with a longer cable. The wall-mounted AC adapter (also supplied) is more compact and more practical when you're on the move.
Designed to be the ideal travel companion, this adapter features an ingenious design that allows the cable to be neatly rolled up for easy storage.
This mains adapter recharges the lithium-polymer battery whether the system is switched on, off or in standby mode. It can also power the system if you choose not to use the battery.
Compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.

Relieved
My Mac is old (2018) and I was worried that the mains power supply I needed no longer existed, as is all too often the case in this world of programmed obsolescence. Not only does it still exist, but it was available in shop. I can use my machine again.
