    Disappointing

Beyond the not crazy generational performance gain report, of which I was aware before the purchase... I am largely disappointed with the product, or with Nvidia by extension.

I got this card to finalise a latest-gen configuration, and it turns out that it's unstable and causes my PC to crash repeatedly. It's impossible to run decent games without totally crashing the PC.
The latest drivers were installed, but nothing helped.
After hours of geekery and testing to try and find a solution, it turns out that I have to force the motherboard, Pcie gen 5, which naturally manages a PcieGen5 CG ... in Gen5 ... to downgrade to manage it in Gen 4: the 500X series are unstable in Gen5 and no driver patch 5 months after their release. Once in Gen4 it runs perfectly.

When you put 1600€ into a graphics card, you expect it to run smoothly and purr, not to have to spend hours finding such a crazy solution and not being able to take advantage of the features sold.

    nickel

Works great and cools well, I don't exceed 50°c at 150 FPS.

On the other hand, the driver is a big mess to install. black screen, Windows 11 bug
but I finally found. Seeing that it is in Pcie 5.0 and that my riser cable is in 4.0 (put the card vertically)
This prevented the driver from being installed, so a word of advice: connect it directly to the motherboard.

    Excellent graphics card

I'm very happy with the MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5080. The performance is spot on, whether for gaming or heavier tasks. The DLSS 4 is amazing! The card remains silent and well cooled, even under load. The price was right for this level of performance, and I can't say enough about it - it's an excellent buy!

I don't rate MSI, they're always top quality!

MSI always does a good job, whether it's for motherboards or GPUs, no problems to report.

On the other hand, NVIDIA has been very lazy this time round. The performance gains of the RTX 5080 are frankly disappointing. I was lucky enough to use an RTX 4090 Ventus for several months, and this 5080 doesn't even come close.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of budget, I had to make do with an RTX 5080 at 1650 €, but if I'd had the money, I'd definitely have opted for a 5090. In terms of value for money, this 5080 really isn't worth it.

This is one of the rare occasions when I criticise NVIDIA, but in this case, I can't do otherwise. As for AMD, although some may think otherwise, I find that they still have huge shortcomings and lag far behind, both in terms of performance and quality. Having owned a 6900 XT, I was not convinced.

    Power in silence

I was lucky enough to get it at 3pm, the day it was released.
Having switched from an old Ryzen 1700x with GTX 1080 to a Ryzen 9800 x3d with this card, I've obviously totally rediscovered my games!
Fluidity in 4k with all settings at maximum, AC Valhalla, hitman 3 (a monumental slap in the face), satisfactory.... Not less than 80 fps and I don't think I've activated the dlss...
But above all, as I said in the title, in silence... Top notch.

Despite the pleasure I get from rediscovering my games, I wouldn't give it 5 stars for two reasons:
1/ NVIDIA's policy which means that less than 5 hours later, everything is out of stock.
2/ less than 5 hours after my purchase, the card has already taken 50€ on LDLC...
On the other hand, special mention goes to the Niort shop. You can feel the professionalism and passion of each of their sales staff. A real pleasure to talk to them.
