Overview

New-generation silent fan

The Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 PWM is a 140mm fan designed to provide quiet, efficient cooling as the successor to the acclaimed NF-A14. It incorporates innovations from the NF-A12x25, using an optimised Progressive-Bend impeller with winglets to improve airflow. The frame featuresAdvanced Acoustic Optimisation (AAO) to reduce vibration and noise.

Reference fan

  • Exceptional acoustic performance: The NF-A14x25 G2 has been carefully tuned for acoustically optimised performance. Its frequency curve is pleasant to the ear and it generates a low sound pressure level (SPL) compared with the resistance.
  • The NF-A14x25 G2 features a Progressive-Bend impeller with Flow Acceleration Channels and winglets. Its 9 blades, which tend to face backwards on the hub side, curve progressively outwards at the tip. Combined with the Centrifugal Turbulator hub, this design allows more air to be delivered to the tip of the blade (the zone of maximum efficiency) and also ensures that the load is distributed more evenly along the blade profile.
  • As a turbulence generator, the Centrifugal Turbulator hub and its specific design improve the cohesion of flows in the hub area. In addition, its movement exerts a centrifugal force that moves the air away from the hub, and therefore away from the area that is less efficient given the low rotation speeds. The air is thus channelled to the most efficient zone at the tip of the blade, increasing overall performance.
  • The NF-A14x25 G2 turbine is fitted with flow ducts on the suction side of the fan. The flow acceleration generated at the tips of the blades creates a more massive, less dispersed suction, increasing efficiency while reducing noise disturbance.

Ultra-quiet

  • Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames are equipped with anti-vibration silentblocks and benefit from exclusive optimisations to push back the limits of performance and silence.
  • To avoid problems of excessive load, the NF-A14x25 G2 is supplied with a special anti-vibration gasket (pre-installed) and, for installation on the air outlet side, anti-vibration pads with load-reducing structures.
  • Integrated anti-vibration mounts, made from extra-soft silicone, reduce the transmission of micro-vibrations while ensuring perfect compatibility with fan mounting systems and fan clips.
  • Protected against reverse polarity, overvoltage and overcurrent (short circuits), the fan is suitable for use in harsh electrical environments. In addition, its ultra-low electromagnetic emissions make this fan an ideal solution for interference-sensitive applications.
  • The NF-A14x25 is supplied with a NA-AVG2 silicone gasket that can be used when installing the fan on a watercooling heatsink or any other application requiring minimum leakage. The gasket reduces micro-vibrations and air leakage between the fan and the radiator for optimum cooling performance.

    Silent and blowing

Noctua's reputation is well established. It may be more expensive, but it's also powerful and very quiet. I bought it to complete the ventilation setup of a Fractal Design North XL, and I have to turn down the fans on the tower by half to hear the additional Noctua fans and the processor fan. And in fact, I can afford to turn down the tower fans quite a bit (3 fans, no less), since these three + this Noctua at the inlet and two of these Noctuas at the outlet still allow for positive pressure and effective cooling.
